This used to be a strictly-photo blog, now it's whatever I feel like. Please do enjoy.

2011 music

this was the best one:

Here were my five favorite albums that weren’t made by bon iver:

TIMBER TIMBRE - CREEP ON CREEPIN ON

Scene: The Band plays a show at the bar in Twin Peaks (the reverbed-out one with the red velvet curtain). I’ll meet you there at 9:30. It is happening again. It is happening again.

MONUMENT - GOES CANOEING

Yearly pop-punk fix. I don’t eat breakfast every day, but I should.

GILES COREY - GILES COREY

This is hard to describe. There’s a lot of crazy-depressing shit going on, and some really nice beautiful parts too. Dan Barrett (of Have A Nice Life) brings the pain, which is something one needs sometimes. ‘Spectral Bride’ is maybe my favourite song this year.

COLIN STETSON - NEW HISTORY WARFARE VOL 2: JUDGES

There’s no good way to really write about this album. It’s the right kind of otherworldly. One of those things where there’s only one person on Earth who could have made it. Hats way the fuck off.

TEENAGE COOL KIDS - DENTON AFTER SUNSET

This is the most eminently 90s thing ever. It has me longing for a town I’ve never been to, times and places I’ll never be privy to. A near-perfect swan song for the Texas band.

these people also put out really good music this year:

clams casino, kurt vile, feist, bry webb, the weather station, bruce peninsula, johnny foreigner, gillian welch, richard buckner, the antlers, wu lyf, josh t pearson, tyler butler, woods, the weeknd, aa bondy, good luck, chelsea wolfe, hezekiah jones.
